short subject description

The subject Theory of media is devoted to issues of media present in cultural space, especially those that in the 20th / 21st century, as M. Hopfinger wrote, "significantly influenced the communication experiences of cultural participants". Starting from the concept of medium, the most important issues related to the role and importance of media - 'old' and new in the context of scientific and technological progress as well as changing types of culture will be discussed. Classes cover the possible wide range of artistic practices, taking into account, above all, all forms of expanding and experimenting with materials, techniques, as well as methods and forms of expression. The issues of the importance of media and their role in the history of art will also be discussed, up to the notion of post-media. Issues will be discussed on the basis of selected examples in the field of visual arts: painting, graphics, sculpture and photography, film, intermedia, new media art, bio-art, supported by theoretical texts.
