COGNITIVE TARGET: comprehension of color theory, painting technology, artistic techniques, aesthetics, relation between art and geometry, Golden Ratio and awareness of mathematics' presence in art. Painting as knowledge and skills, evolution of color throughout centuries, learning about changes in artistic comprehension in art history and what artistic means of expression were used in various epochs. Color theory constituting principles that should be common knowledge for every artist - primary and secondary colors of light, primary and secondary colors of pigment, complementary colors, brightness contrasts, issues on the subject of color contrast, range contrast, complementary contrast and simultaneous contrast. Problems of complementary colors in theory and practice, problems of subject's color in studying nature and project execution - comprehension of three factors affecting subject's color, namely local color, color of akin tone and reflected color as well as importance of color of light. The problem of shadow's color, regarding a color of light. Chromatic and monochromatic vision. Color ranges: range of warm colors, range of cool colors, neutral range, harmonizing colors. Execution of painting tasks on the highest possible level of skill and intellectual quality, using miscellaneous painting techniques.
EDUCATIVE TARGET: The ability to carry out artistic intents with technical mastery based on knowledge and skills. Seeking one's own artistic identity unrestrained by intellectual and technical ignorance. Broad spectrum of artistic expression. A factor that is equally significant to traditional means in teaching process is computer skills. It is basically analysis of ideas and drafts on the monitor screen, using different colors, deformations and diverse perspectives. This method allows variety of approaches to a certain idea and gives numerous ways to solve a single problem.
PRACTICAL TARGET: skills of studying nature, ability to carry out painting tasks in miscellaneous techniques, knowledge on the subject of color, perspective, painting technology, anatomy, widening general knowledge, enabling students to interpret surrounding reality (science, literature, music, etc.) |

The key objective of the subject is finding one's own artistic identity based on knowledge and technical skills. A student gains comprehension of color theory, painting technology, artistic techniques and aesthetics. Students are also encouraged to widen their general knowledge, enabling them to interpret surrounding reality (science, literature, music, etc.). Combination of those skills and knowledge allows thorough comprehension of contemporary art and finding one's place within it. |
