The evaluation is based on number of points obtained in the written test. The test consists of five terms to describe and 10 slides with works of art to describe. Scoring: 45-50 A; 44 B +; 40-43 B; 35-39 C +; 30-34 C; 0-29 D

Objective cognitive:

Understand the causes of changes in styles.

Understand works of art in a broader context.

Know the terminology used elementary art history

Have an elementary knowledge of artistic concepts in modern art

Purpose of education:

Be able to explain the ideas associated with particular artistic solutions in the modern period showing the similarities and differences between them.

Have developed skills in communication

Target practice:

Be aware of once level of knowledge and skills.

Understand the need for continuous professional and personal development. Improve competencies and skills.

Systematically participate in cultural life.

Be interested in current events, cultural, innovative and ancient forms of artistic expression, new and old phenomena in art.

short subject description

The aim of the course is to provide students with a comprehensive picture of the world of modern art, which is often in the service of religion, magic, politics, and other human activities. Classes are used primarily for knowledge, not criticism, so that the student can independently respond to a variety of artistic and cultural activities in different continents and different time periods. Lectures should visualise that art is part of a complex structure, which consists of a variety of beliefs, rituals, political ideas, moral and social codes, etc.., And that it is an excellent means of communication, however, often used for purposes of imposing a specific world order.

The lecture consists of the following elements:

-explanation of the purpose of the lecture and mentioning the main points indicating the topic keywords

-multimedia presentation



Within the classes are also organized visits to galleries and museums, where students have the opportunity to analyse the original works of art. Lecturer prepares for students auxiliary tasks

the beginnings of the Italian Renaissance : architecture, painting, sculpture

3./4. XVI century in art and European culture: the Reformation and art in Northern Europe; flowering of the Renaissance in Florence and Rome; flowering of the Renaissance in Venice; Mannerism in architecture, painting, sculpture.

5./6. XVII century in art and European culture: the beginnings of Baroque in Rome; Baroque in Architecture; seventeenth century Dutch painting; Baroque in England and in France

7./8. XVIII century in art and European culture: French Rococo; Rococo in Germany and Italy; English painting; Neoclassicism
